Attentive to the need to revitalize old areas of Mexico City, the ARCO contemporary architecture office designed and built this building of 36 apartments, giving the medium-interest housing a functional and dignified design within its category.
The main challenge was to design a very narrow plot of land, the appropriate amount to be able to take advantage of the housing density that the authority allows. The optimal use of spaces was one of the main premises. This project demonstrates that taking care of the investment cost is not at odds with achieving an attractive design; At the same time, a contemporary image was sought for this development, for which apparent concrete was used with enamelled partition details, perforated sheet and vibrant yellow accents as visual finishing touches to certain areas.
The project is divided into 3 bodies with 2 departments each, thus achieving an optimized distribution in terms of circulation.
The design of the façade covered in a ceramic material creates a random game of openings and masses that stand out with balconies projecting with light, generating a reflection of mobility and urbanism.
It can be seen that natural light is an important player in the interiors of the apartments, and the use of rainwater that falls on the roof for the use of toilets was also considered.
This is how this building achieves a well-balanced image and whose design takes into account the value and functionality that each apartment must have for its inhabitants.
